International experience

Director of International Affairs at Swiss Post for five years, Pascal Clivaz was responsible for contacts with the UPU and Head of the Swiss delegation to the Council of Administration and the Postal Operations Council.

He represented Switzerland as Chairman of the Drafting Committee at the 23rd UPU Congress.

Elected to the Board of PostEurop (PostEurop is a UPU Restricted Union representing the interest of 48 European public postal operators) in 2002, Pascal Clivaz was also active in the organisation of many large events. He directed the organisation of the Plenary Assembly of PostEurop, of the European Committee for Postal Regulation (CERP) and three philatelic forums. Pascal Clivaz was President of «EUROPA stamps» for 4 years.

While Swiss Post, he undertook many successful cooperation and development projects, supported and financed through the Swiss Foreign aid and Development Policy. He was also engaged in defending the interests of developing countries and became deputy chairman of the UPU Technical Assistance Committee.

Active member of the United Nations family

An active member of the Finance and Budget Network of the United Nations, Pascal Clivaz represents the UPU on the High Level Committee on Management (HLCM) of the UN’s Chief Executives Board (CEB). This committee brings together senior officials responsible for the management of the different UN organisations. His ability to negotiate and compromise contributes to an atmosphere of understanding and to finding solutions to complex questions related to the financial and human resource management of participating organisations.
